A Sustainable Urban Flower Farm in Chicago
I grow specialty cut flowers in the backyard of my Logan Square home and hydroponically indoors under solar-powered grow lights. This small-scale approach allows me to grow local flowers within the city and extend production beyond Chicago’s traditional outdoor growing season.
In a commitment to sustainability, I use beneficial insects instead of pesticides to manage pests and only harvest half of my flowers, leaving the other half to nourish pollinators and provide beauty for my family and neighbors to enjoy.

Flower Farm
Many of my flowers are grown hydroponically in my basement using a recirculating system and grow lights powered by solar energy. Hydroponic growing uses substantially less water than conventional field production and allows fresh flowers to be grown locally during months when Chicago’s outdoor flower season is limited.
