The flowers available through my CSA are cultivated year-round in the basement of my solar-powered home using hydroponics, resulting in a 90% reduction in water usage. Spring through fall I extend my growing space to the backyard of my home in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood. I use the ancient no-till farming method, which minimizes soil erosion, enhances water retention, fosters biodiversity, and improves overall soil health. In a commitment to sustainability, I harvest only half of my flowers, leaving the other half to nourish pollinators and provide beauty for my family and neighbors to enjoy.
